“Yes”, he reviewed, Masters like Apollonius of Tyana were said to return to walk the Earth and stay in it, but if they did they walked it keeping themselves to themselves, – no ruling, no rescuing as much as they surely could, and that was selfishness, – “Out of some kind of fear they’ll lose something big if they do? – like lesser beings, surely not highest ones!”

The standard argument was, ‘High beings must leave others to their own spiritual advancement’, – “But that just means we splat all alone on death’s wall, – even any novice majicians who die too soon!” It was no comfort that many schools thought ‘avatars’ were waiting to help seekers on the other side of the dying, – “You still have to go there first to find out if it’s true, and after all, ‘avatars’ never do anything fantastic for mankind either!” No, the bottom line about supreme Masters was, – apart from mere messages sent from The Beyond by the departed men via mediums – no grand return was ever made by a supreme Master to benefit all the Earth!

“Oh but Hamar,” advised his Tibetan prayer tutor, “high souls reincarnate again in someone else, take on a new body, return to teach those on The Way. Our school believes you are one.” He answered the man, “Even though any Master would already have reached a higher life and have no gain in living lower, in being stunted again? None of the Self-less have been that selfless; no master of yours has returned to sort out the whole Earth with all the powers and knowledge he’d have after that for doing it.”

Hamar stared him down, “And what happens to the other newborn, itself also a unique child of two parents like any other, whose body the man usurps for a lifetime? What of the baby’s own soul, whose body I supposedly took over and am supposedly in? Pregnancy doesn’t make hollow shells! And why would I want to get born again that low way even if it were possible? I’m no demon craving a body to live in!” He stared back into the man’s demonized eyes and got no answer, only the sage chuckle that ended most unanswerables.

No, fables of good endings were limited stuff and couldn’t be trusted anyway. Hamar discerned lying demons working through others of his advisers, and knew to doubt whatever messages were told by disembodied beings since they always presented themselves as other than they truly were. He knew what none of the mystes had come to know, – there wasn’t a single person in the place, whether student or teacher, who couldn’t be deceived by an invisible entity talking or disguising itself since such beings were above mere mortals anyway. He’d perceived their dark forms all over Methick, some even on Aktiarh!

A usual student argument was, “We are all seekers, here on Earth to learn lessons by ourselves, each must advance on their own learnings through life.”

“Then you have an ignoramus teaching you,” Hamar sneered back, “one who doesn’t yet know the answers! Do you listen to people who don’t know the answers? A life of seeking amounts to a life wandering lost in the woods, or spent trying to find your shoes! People don’t keep seeking when they find their shoes, do they? So what answers can you seekers teach yourselves when the fact is you didn’t have the answer before you started, and have only your own useless ability to recognize it if you stumble on it? And what lesson does a robber teach himself? What lesson advances a liar? An imbecile? A madman?

‘You’re all a bunch of empty boxes, declaring big truths from what isn’t in there! Wake up!”
